Day one: My decision

Today, is day one of my choice for a simpler lifestyle.
Recently, I started thinking about all the things going on in my life and just felt overwhelmed and empty.
I could find no joy in my everyday life. Something had to give. I wanted the void in my soul to go away. So, I have signed up to volunteer at the Cottages of Hope. It is a non profit organization to help people become financially stable. They help them with job searches, their taxes, budgeting, setting up savings plans, perfecting their resumes, how to present themselves in an interview and so on.
But as great as that is, it isn't enough. Every morning when i wake up I am surrounded by stuff!!
Stacks of stuff! I wish there was someone else to blame but there isn't. Most of it is my stuff. Piles of books on every subject, clothes, more dishes and applainces than i will use. Stuff, not dirt and filth, stuff...there is a difference! I have wall to wall furniture. But i declare NO MORE!! Starting today, I will begin the sifting process and pass on or get rid of the stuff! I started this blog to document my journey to a simpler way of living. A way of living involving less material possessions, more mindful living, more enjoyment of the here and now. A freedom from the way my life has gone so far.
